Atlantis The Palm is a resort complex on the crescent-shaped Palm Jumeirah, a popular destination for tourists, families, couples, and those who enjoy spending time there.
Inside, you’ll find the Aquaventure water park and the Lost Chambers aquarium. There are also restaurants and a beach.
It is located on Crescent Road, at the farthest point of the island, accessible via a tunnel under the lagoon. Atlantis The Palm is situated at the western tip of Palm Jumeirah, on the outer crescent of the island. Due to its location, the journey takes longer than reaching attractions closer to the Palm’s trunk, particularly when traveling from Dubai Marina, Downtown, or Dubai International Airport. The approximate distance from Dubai Marina is about 12 km, from Downtown about 30 km, and from DXB (Dubai International Airport) approximately 35 km.
Before You Go: Access, Tickets and Parking
There is no requirement to be a guest at Atlantis The Palm to visit the resort. Day guests may access the hotel lobby and many of the open-access public spaces within the property, and food and beverage service is available at all of the restaurants. Day guests also have access to complimentary parking. However, only registered hotel guests or visitors with an appropriate day pass can access the hotel’s private beach and pool facilities.
If you are planning to visit either Aquaventure World or The Lost Chambers Aquarium, it is advisable to book your tickets separately from your accommodation. Booking your Aquaventure or Lost Chambers tickets online before arriving at the attraction typically allows you to get discounted pricing compared with purchasing tickets upon arrival, and it also helps ensure availability for your desired date.
Be sure to check the details of your ticket to see exactly what is included. Some ticket combinations provide access to both Aquaventure and The Lost Chambers.
A common mistake is confusing the two Atlantis properties and arriving at the wrong one. Atlantis The Palm and Atlantis The Royal have completely separate entrances and addresses.
When travelling to either property by car or taxi, make sure your GPS or directions are set specifically to Atlantis The Palm, rather than Atlantis The Royal.
Quick Guide: Getting to Atlantis The Palm
To choose the most convenient and fastest way to get to Atlantis The Palm, it is better to compare available options.
| Option | Time from Dubai Marina | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tram + monorail | ~40 min | From AED 23 (AED 3 tram + AED 20 monorail) | Budget travel, no luggage |
| Taxi / ride-hailing | ~20 min | From AED 35 to 55 | Families, beach gear |
| Rental car | ~20 min | From AED 60/day | Full-day visits, early arrival |
| Hotel shuttle | Varies | Included for some hotel guests | Staying at Atlantis |
The tram and monorail are paid separately. The tram fare starts from AED 3, while the Palm Monorail costs AED 20 for a one-way trip from Palm Gateway to Atlantis Dubai Aquaventure or AED 30 for a return ticket. Adult ticket prices vary depending on the monorail route and ticket type, so check the fare before travelling. This way, you can compare all the available options and choose the best way to get to Atlantis The Palm.
Monorail to Atlantis
If you decide to use public transportation, here are step-by-step directions on how to get to Atlantis The Palm:
- The Palm Monorail runs to the Atlantis Aquaventure terminal station. From there, take the covered walkway to Atlantis, straight to the entrance.
- The journey begins on the Dubai Metro Red Line. Take the metro to the DMCC or Sobha Realty station, depending on where you’re coming from, then transfer to the Dubai Tram. Take the tram to the Palm Jumeirah station.
- From the Palm Jumeirah Tram Station, follow the signs for Palm Gateway, the starting point of the Palm Monorail. The two stations are connected by a pedestrian walkway, so there is no need to take another form of transportation between them. At Palm Gateway, purchase a separate monorail ticket and take the train toward Atlantis Aquaventure, the final station.
The monorail requires a separate ticket (the Nol Card is not valid).
- Hours of Operation: The monorail runs daily from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Service Intervals: Trains depart every 15 minutes.
- Last Train: From Palm Gateway Station (toward Atlantis), the last train departs at 9:45 p.m. From Atlantis Aquaventure Station (toward the mainland), the last train departs at exactly 10:00 p.m.
If you’re heading to a resort with kids and beach bags, three transfers on public transport can be very tiring, and in that case, it’s worth seriously considering a taxi as an alternative.
Taxi and Ride-Hailing
If, for some reason, renting a car isn’t convenient for you, but public transportation isn’t a good fit either (for example, you don’t want to wait for a bus, subway, and so on), then calling a taxi is one of the most convenient options.
- From Dubai Marina, the trip takes about 15-20 minutes and costs approximately AED 35-50.
- From Downtown, the trip takes 25 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic. You’ll have to drive across nearly half the city on Sheikh Zayed Road, and the fare will be approximately AED 85 to 110.
- If you’re coming from DXB Airport, the fare will be approximately AED 100-120. Since all rides from the airport in Dubai automatically include a higher starting fare, the trip will take approximately 35 to 45 minutes.
Driving to Atlantis The Palm
- From Sheikh Zayed Road (E11), follow the signs towards Al Sufouh Road and Palm Jumeirah, then continue along the island’s main trunk road. A tunnel connects the trunk with Crescent Road, where Atlantis The Palm is located. Visit Dubai confirms that the tunnel is the road connection used to reach the resorts on Crescent Road.
- From Dubai Marina, the drive can take around 15-30 minutes (depending on traffic), while the road journey from Downtown Dubai is around 24 minutes in normal conditions. During weekday rush hours and busy weekend evenings, allow extra time because traffic can build up on the roads leading to Palm Jumeirah.
Parking depends on what you are visiting. Hotel guests have complimentary valet parking, while day visitors can use the P18 parking area free of charge.
Atlantis advises day visitors to take the first right at the roundabout before reaching the hotel building, where a shuttle bus can take them towards The Avenues entrance.
If Aquaventure is your main destination, use the dedicated Aquaventure parking area instead. After exiting the tunnel, take the first right at the roundabout, then use the complimentary shuttle to the Aquaventure Ticketing Plaza.
Beginning the process of arriving early at Atlantis, when possible, will assist you in avoiding the long lines that typically occur on busier days, and particularly for those who are mainly visiting Aquaventure. Also, compared with public transit, a personal vehicle (driving) offers much greater flexibility and accessibility for traveling to additional areas of Dubai. Be sure to find transport information and research your route before you begin your journey, particularly when traffic is heavy.
Renting a Car for Your Dubai Trip
Picking up a rental car at Dubai International Airport is the easiest way to reach Atlantis The Palm, as the route is a straightforward drive. Your car effectively serves as a private transfer, giving you the flexibility to travel directly to the resort and continue exploring Dubai afterwards.
If you don’t want to wait for a bus, tram, or taxi, renting a car will cost you from AED 60 per day and offers a car that is always at your service. With Octane Rent, you can rent a car without a security deposit and with basic insurance included in the price. The car can be delivered to any address, including your hotel, apartment, residential complex, or airport. Delivery service is available 24/7.
Instead of having to transfer to another mode of transportation with wet clothes, kids, and after a hot day, it’s much easier to hop into a rental car and go about your business at your own pace, with all your belongings loaded in the trunk. Plus, a rental car gives you the freedom to stop wherever you like, take pictures, drive at your own pace, and create your own atmosphere inside the car.
You can book in less than 1 minute. Simply select pick-up and drop-off dates, send a booking request, and wait for the vehicle to be delivered to any location within Dubai.
Practical Tips
Below, we’ll share some life hacks that will help you as a traveler when visiting Atlantis The Palm.
- Book Aquaventure tickets online in advance. Ticket prices vary by season, and online booking can offer better rates than buying at the park. Some aquarium and experience tickets can be up to 30% cheaper when booked online. Also, when you book online, you can help ensure availability for your preferred date, whereas if you buy a ticket right at the gate, there’s a good chance there won’t be a seat available.
- Budget extra for lockers and towels. Neither is included as standard with a regular Aquaventure admission ticket. Small and large lockers are available for daily rental. Beach towels can be rented at the entrance or from Guest Services kiosks inside the park. If you travel with valuables, it is better to use a locker for peace of mind rather than leaving your belongings unattended.
- Use The Lost Chambers Aquarium as an indoor break from the heat. If you need a safe indoor place during the hottest part of the day to have a break from the outdoor attractions, the Lost World Aquarium is located inside Atlantis The Palm Dubai and is a practical place to escape to. Day visitors need an admission ticket for the aquarium, although some marine experiences include same-day aquarium access.
- Allow extra time if you are arriving from the airport. If you are booking a transfer from the airport to Atlantis hotel, check your hotel booking before paying for a separate service. Guests booking into Suites at Atlantis receive free of charge airport transfers from Dubai International Airport. In addition, if guests have booked into the Guest Rooms, they may book their own airport transfer (for an additional cost), and this will be subject to availability. If you choose to travel by Public Transport, please check up-to-date information on bus routes and fares with the RTA before your journey to reach Atlantis, as it takes more than one route.
- Combine Atlantis with another Palm Jumeirah attraction. The View at The Palm and Palm West Beach are both on the island’s trunk and can be combined with an Atlantis visit if you have more time. The View has a 240-metre-high observation deck. The Palm West Beach is a 1.6-kilometre beachfront promenade, where restaurants, cafés and beach clubs can be found.
Best Time to Visit
- Best time to visit: If you want to visit the water park without waiting in line, it’s best to arrive right when it opens, around 10 a.m. By the way, during the hot season, this is also more comfortable physically. The official hours of operation are currently listed on the website as 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Best days of the Week: Weekdays are better for visiting than weekends. As a rule, the middle of the week is usually less crowded, and from Monday through Thursday, attendance is much lower than from Friday through Sunday.
- Best months to visit Atlantis, The Palm: The period of time from November until March is typically an ideal time in which to spend the whole day out-of-doors. The weather is generally warmer than the temperature experienced during the hotter summer months, where the average high temperature reaches as high as 41 degrees Celsius or higher. However, since most people travel to the park during this same time frame (peak tourist season), the weekends will have crowds of tourists. Therefore, the best way to avoid these weekend crowds would be to arrive at the park as early as possible after it has opened, and then plan your visit to take place on a weekday.
