The Stellantis Brand Merger under the Leadership of Carlos Tavares

The Stellantis merger is the biggest news in the recent history of the auto industry. Multinational automaker Stellantis N.V. was formed in 2021 with the merger of Italian-American Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA) and French PSA Group. The result was strategically uniting two of the world’s biggest carmakers into one to create a global giant with a multinational portfolio of 14 brands.
The company was then renamed Stellantis from the Latin verb “stello” meaning “to light up with stars” in accordance with its vision to sparkle globally in the auto industry. Stellantis is now one of the world’s largest automakers by volume and revenues, with a profound presence in the US market, Europe, and the rest of the world. The merging of the Fiat Chrysler and PSA Group merger allows the company to share its technology, platforms, and electrification plans around the globe to help it compete with other large corporations like Toyota and General Motors.
Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares has been driving the company’s ambition to embrace innovation, sustainability, and expansion through new cars and electrification to set the group up for success in the future.
